Today I want to share with you a unique bathroom antique cabinet that I found for our half bathroom over the weekend! I quick styled this piece and took some night shots because I wanted to share it with you so badly! I’ll style it and take some more photos soon. I found this Antique Cabinet from one of my favorite local antique shops, Garden House Antiques and it feels like the missing piece to this little bathroom. It is a dream antique find! It also comes with a lot of history.
Not everyday do you find an antique piece that comes with paper work of the previous owner, and the potential journey the piece has gone on. This piece was one of the rarity, that came with a little bit of paper work and I think we all can have a little fun learning about its past. The cabinet is an old dental cabinet that belonged to Col. Andrew Bondar. Shortly after opening his dental office in Manchester, New Hampshire, Andrew joined the Military Forces for WWII serving as an army dental surgeon in Europe and Africa. After serving in the Forces he returned back to the US, worked as a dentist for the Veterans Affairs in New Hampshire and eventually Battle Creek, MI, until he retired in 1982. So no only do we love the history, we love it will continue to live in a veteran household.
Since having the piece, we have found some interesting qualities hidden in and around. There are several hidden drawers and locks to lock all of the drawers in unique ways. One of my favorite features of the unique bathroom antique cabinet is the sterilization cabinet.
What I love about this piece in the bathroom is that is more of a focal point for the space. It is just an interesting piece, that even those not interested in antiques, are curious about its history. This contrasts the last piece, our a large wooden cabinet that fit perfect in the space width and depth wise. The color was very close to the wall color, causing the piece to blend or disappear into the space. Both pieces allow for another source of storage for all things bathroom, making it very functional still.
